My story
How a high schooler ended up designing websites.
Hi — I'm Quincy Roersma, a high school student from Ada, Michigan, and the person behind Apex.
It started with a feeling I couldn't shake: I wanted to make things. I'd scroll past beautifully designed sites and wonder how they were built — the typography, the spacing, the way everything just felt right. So I stopped wondering and started learning.
I dove headfirst into UI/UX principles — studying layout, hierarchy, color theory, and what actually makes a website feel premium instead of generic. From there I picked up React and modern frameworks, learning how to turn design decisions into real, fast-loading sites that work on every device.
The more I built, the more I noticed how many small businesses were stuck with websites that didn't reflect the quality of their work. That gap is what Apex exists to close. Being a student means I'm not weighed down by old habits or agency overhead — I'm building with the newest tools, and I genuinely care about every project that comes through.
